You can run a 32-bit operating system on a 32-bit or 64-bit computer.
If you run a 32-bit operating system on a 64-bit computer, it will work but not take advantage of the 64-bit memory address range.
You can only run a 64-bit operating system on a 64-bit computer.

To check if you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system and processor:

Windows 95 to Windows 12.

Click on start on the left of the icon bar and type CMD.exe in to the search box.

Click on CMD.exe in the list to open the window.
In the CMD.exe window:

Type; systeminfo
If the line 'Processor(s)' says x86 or Intel86 then the operating system processor is 32-bit.
If the line 'Processor(s)' says x64 or Intel64 then the operating system processor is 64-bit.
If the line 'System Type' says x86-based PC then the hardware processor size is 32-bit.
If the line 'System Type' says x64-based PC then the hardware processor size is 64-bit.

This operating system was created by just one person in his spare time and not by some big company.
So please don't expect lots of new versions and bug fixes every few weeks.

How to use or test this operating system:

To use and/or test this operating system you need:
A computer to install it on.

You can install a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system on a computer with a 64-bit processor.
You can only install a 32-bit operating system on a computer with a 32-bit processor.
If you are using a 64-bit processor, then you should use the 64-bit operating system to take full advantage of your processor.

A 5.5 GBytes hard drive or bigger, if installing it.
The iso image file for this operating system.
One of the following:

A blank CD-ROM and software to burn the iso image to it.
or
A blank DVD-ROM and software to burn the iso image to it.
or
A spare USB memory stick (871,204 KBytes or bigger) and software to install the iso image to it.
or
A copy of Oracle VM VirtualBox. (Can use this on Windows, Mac os and Linux. Free software)
or
A copy of Vmware. (Can use this on Windows, Mac os and Linux. Not freeware.)

Most operating systems are quite big and can take a long time to download and install.
AGIUS os is smaller than most, but will still take a long time to download.
So if you have read this far down the page and thinking about trying it out, you should start downloading it now.
Hopefully you will finish downloading it before January, 2025.

How many operating system can I run on one computer?
You can run as many as you have room for on your hard drive.
You can only run two Windows operating systems, but as many other operating systems as you like.
If you want to run more than two Windows operating systems, then you can run some of them in a virtual machine.
The following have all been installed on the same computer at the same time.

Windows 12 (64-bit)	fully installed on the hard drive.
Windows 7 (64-bit)	fully installed on the hard drive.
Windows XP (64-bit)	in a virtual machine. (VM VirtualBox in Windows 7, Windows 12 and Linux)
Windows 95 (32-bit)	in a virtual machine. (VM VirtualBox in Windows 7, Windows 12 and Linux)
Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (64-bit)	fully installed on the hard drive.
Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (64-bit)	fully installed on the hard drive.
AGIUS os (64-bit)	fully installed on the hard drive.
Linux Mint (64-bit)	in a virtual machine. (VM VirtualBox in Windows 7, Windows 12 and Linux)

Run the operating system in a virtual machine.
You can run this operating system in Oracle VM VirtualBox or some other virtual machine.
You will need to set it up with the emulated CD-ROM drive pointing to the AGIUS-os_0-00-0001_2018-12-27_64bit.iso file.
Or you can setup the virtual machine CD-ROM drive to use a real CD-ROM and load it from there.
Note: Running any operating systems inside a virtual machine, will run much slower than installing it on the hard drive.
Please do not judge the performance of any operating system on it's speed if run inside a virtual machine.

Burning the ISO image to a blank CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.
The AGIUS operating system is small enough to fit on a CD-ROM, but if you only have blank DVD-ROMs or your using this page to help with installing some other bigger operating system, then you can use a DVD-ROM.
Using a USB memory stick.
If your computer has a USB socket and it can boot from a USB memory stick, then you can install the iso image on the memory stick instead.
Note: The Microsoft Windows operating systems can only read the primary partition from USB memory sticks.
The USB memory stick must be 871,204 KBytes or bigger.

You can use one of the following software programs to; burn an ISO image to a CD-ROM and/or a DVD-ROM or install an ISO image on a memory stick.

If you are installing it on your computer, you may need to change some BIOS settings to:

Boot the system from the CD-ROM or USB memory stick.
Turn off the Secure Boot Configuration, in the security section of the BIOS menu.

Entering the BIOS will vary, depending on which make and version of computer you are using.
To change the bood device:
Shutdown your computer, then restart it.
Before it starts keep on tapping one of the following keys to enter the boot select option menu. (This may be part of the BIOS menu)

To turn off the secure boot configuration:
Shutdown your computer, then restart it.
Before it starts keep on tapping one of the following keys to enter the BIOS menu settings window.

After you have finished installing AGIUS os, you can reset the above BIOS settings if you wish.

When the computer boots from the CD, DVD or memory stick, you can choose from one of the following options:

AGIUS OS Live This will let you run the operating system without installing it or altering your hard drive. This will run slowly, as reading from a CD or DVD is slower than using the hard drive and no temporary data can be stored on the hard drive.
The default username is; agius_os
The default password is; password (Must be entered in lower case)

Install AGIUS os This will let you install the operating system. This will also take some time, but once installed, will run faster than most other operating systems.
You can install it to use the whole hard drive, replacing any other old operating systems
or set it up to run along side other operating systems.
Before installing, you should copy any files you wish to keep, on to an external storage device or to the Cloud.
Just incase you format the wrong partition or whole drive.

When installing, you will need to know the following:

Which hard drive partition you wish to use, if you want to keep your old operating systems.
So keep a note of the size of your hard drives.
If you have no free partitions, then see how much free space there is and shrink the one with the most room, to create a new partition.

Your hard drive or hard drive partition must be at least 5.5 GBytes big.
If you wish to install more applications, then you will need a bigger hard drive or hard drive partition.

If you connect to the Internet using WiFi, then you will need your router name and wireless password.
You may be able to get your WiFi information from your rooters home page.
Your rooters home page address is your IPv4 servers address.
Eg; http://192.168.0.1/

To find your IPv4 DNS servers address with Windows 8 to Windows 12:

Click on the WiFi icon on the icon bar.
Click on 'Properties' by your WiFi icon.
A page should open, scroll down to display your IPv4 DNS servers address.

To find your IPv4 DNS servers address with Windows 95 to Windows 12:

Click on the Windows start' button, on the left of the icon bar.
In the 'Search programs and files' box type; cmd.exe
Click on 'cmd.exe'
In the c:\Windows\system32\cmd window type; ipconfig
(You can also type 'ipconfig /all' to display your MAC address etc.)
At the end of the line saying 'Default Gateway . . .' is your server address.

To find your IPv4 DNS servers address with a Linux based system:

Press Ctrl+Alt+T' to open a Terminal window.
In the Terminal window, type; 'ip route'
In the middle of the line saying 'default via' is your server address.

To log-in to your rooter: (This is not the wireless password)

You will need to pick a user name and password with this operating system.
They can be anything you wish.
When installed, you won't have to use agius_os as your user name and password as your password.
You can later add or delete accounts and change the settings if you wish.
- The first time you visit some websites, you will be asked to enter your user name and password for that website.
  This is because this data was stored in the browsers cookie file in your old operating system and not this operating system.
  Eg. Your bank account, Google account, Facebook, etc.
- You will need to enter all your email address and password and other settings for all your email accounts, in Thunderbird Mail, 60.2.1 (64-bit).
- You should visit the software centre, to see if there are any other applications you wish to install.
